If Never Again, If Every Day, sometimes abbreviated to INAIED on Tumblr, is a popular Joe/Nicky fanfiction co-written by gallifreyburning and takiki16. The authors have self-described their work as a form of "fic-tennis" which may also be considered tigging.
Fic Summary:
Current-day Nicky wakes up one morning to find himself re-living the first day he met Yusuf in 1099, and Nicolò from 1099 finds himself with a stranger named Joe in 2021. Time-crossed and facing old and new challenges, the two lovers have to find their way back to each other.
The fanfiction has a dedicated following, with excitement expressed by fans of the work each time a new chapter is published. The fic has updated with a new chapter almost every week since the first chapter was published in August 2020.
In February 2021, the 30-chapter long WIP fic had 80717 words, 56017 hits, 1194 comments, and 2059 kudos. The fic was also bookmarked 414 times.
Responses and Reviews
A tennis fic by two authors. A mysterious black magic rock has made Nicky from 1099 and today switch places and so the story also switches between 1099 and today. The fic is incredible in its dedication to detail, its emotional seriousness, it really focuses on the implications of the scenario (like language and clothes even - the history nerd in my is ecstatic!) but it also has a plot on two timelines that keeps you hooked.[2]
