Holding Out for a Hero is a multifandom vid by Linda Brandt.
From Textual Poachers:
When the singer's voice is not anchored to a particular char- acter, as in mixed media videos where images are drawn from a number ofdifferent programs, the singer's voice is typically assumed to speak on behalfof the individual fan or the larger fan community. L.B.'s version of "Holding Out for a Hero" assembles heroic Images from dozens of texts, ranging from Rambo to Gone with the Wind, from Lethal Weapon to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. What structures the images is the singer's search for a flesh-and-blood lover who can fulfill the larger-than-life ideals of her screen idols ("Where have all the good men gone?"). The video inventories countless hours lost in the movies or absorbed in television, hours which cannot be duplicated by the experience of mundane life ("I'm holding out for a hero until the end of the night").
