Hogyoku Ex Machina is a Bleach fanfic by Mac Ceallach originally posted to Fanfiction.Net. It is a time travel fic, in which the Hogyoku send both the protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki and main antagonist Aizen back in time, with the former scrambling to convince his allies in Soul Society before Aizen can regroup and strike.
A sequel, Further Machinations, has been posted, but has not been updated since 2013.

One of the most iconic Bleach fics, the author accurately captures the personalities of all the characters (and there are a LOT) while also giving them all a depth they lack in the original manga/anime. Despite the time-travel premise, the main character is never omniscient, as things change because of his arrival. The story is exciting and engaging and lets the reader explore potential answers to unresolved threads from the original material.[1]
