Help:Glossary/Template
This template is used for pages on glossary terms, such as !, -sona, and Dorito. Pages that use this template will automatically be categorized under the glossary category as long as the GlossaryTerm infobox is included.
Glossary pages are highly variable and many glossary pages have unique headers related to the term the page is covering. The template below only supplies a generalized template of some of the more common headers and subjects that may be discussed.
Information in the template below is meant as a placeholder and should be replaced with the relevant content to your page. Editors should feel free to re-organize, add to, and change the order of the headers, as they only serve as a general guide. Copy the code located in the box and paste it into a page to use it.
Glossary Term and definition go here. Include general information, such as synonyms and ways the term is used. Some history of the term may be included here, but if the term's history is long it may be best suited for a designated history section. ==Examples of Use== A good place to insert quotes that utilize or discuss the term, and the place to discuss differences in how the phrase may be used across different fandoms and communities. An example of how to use this section can be found on Balkanization. ==History== If there is enough information on the history of your glossary term it can be discussed here. ==Discussion and Criticism== If your glossary term is at the center of any major discussions or controversies it should be discussed here. Good examples are Do Not Interact and Multi Animator Project. If there are any quotes on the criticism they can be pasted here, using the below formatting: ==Fandoms== If the glossary term is used within multiple specific fandoms or isn't universal, this section should discuss and link to the fandoms the term is most often used in. If different fandoms use the term in different ways, this is also a good place to showcase the differences - especially if the "Examples of Use" subsection hasn't been used for your article. Bullet points can be used if the list and information is short, or otherwise it can be discussed at length. If the glossary term is only used in one fandom, the header may instead be changed to "Fandom" or the name of the fandom, and the term's relationship with its fandom can be discussed in detail within this section. *Fandom 1 - information on how this fandom uses the term *Fandom 2 - information on how this fandom uses the term *Fandom 3 - information on how this fandom uses the term ==Example Works== If your glossary term relates to a kind of art, such as Anime Music Video or Apocafic, you may place examples of fanworks here. Subsections for different types of art are included and should be tailored to the type of artwork your glossary term refers to. If your term only encompasses one type of fanwork, such as videos or fanfics, then the subsections may be deleted and the fanworks can simply be listed under the "Example Works" header for simplicity and cohesion. Fanworks shown should be curated examples, not a complete index of works. ===Fanart=== <gallery> File: IMAGE NAME | [ImageSource words that show] File: IMAGE NAME | [ImageSource words that show] File: IMAGE NAME | [ImageSource words that show] </gallery> ===Video=== *[LINK name of video] - information about video, such as how it relates to the term *[LINK name of video] - information about video *[LINK name of video] - information about video ===Fanfiction=== *[LINK name of fanfic] - information about fanfic, such as tropes or relevance to the term (year of fanfic) *[LINK name of fanfic] - information about fanfic (year of fanfic) *[LINK name of fanfic] - information about fanfic (year of fanfic) ==Communities== If your glossary term is related to a community, for example Bayverse relating to the Transformers community, then links to any forums, groups, or clubs can be listed here. *[LINK name of community] - info on the community, such as what it is or how it relates to the term *[LINK name of community] - info on the community *[LINK name of community] - info on the community ==Meta/Further Reading== Used for linking meta or related links to your glossary term. *[LINK name of meta] - brief blurb on what the meta is about (year of meta) *[LINK name of meta] - brief blurb on what the meta is about (year of meta) *[LINK name of meta] - brief blurb on what the meta is about (year of meta) ==References== <references/> You may place categories here. Many glossary terms won't relate to any specific fandom, but if they do, you should categorize the page along with the fandom. A good example is the glossary term Arrowverse being categorized under Glossary, as well as several fandom categories.
