Haurchefant Greystone is a character in Final Fantasy XIV. He first appeared in A Realm Reborn and quickly became popular due to his warm and welcoming attitude. Heavensward only cemented that position in fandom.

Due to his canonical character death, fics where he survives are common, as are fics that depict a past relationship between him and the Warrior of Light, and the ensuing grief of the WoL after his death. The line "A smile better suits a hero", uttered by him as he died, continues to be (in)famous in the fandom.
In a 2020 NHK poll, Haurchefant was voted the 12th most popular character in the Final Fantasy franchise.[1][2]
