Hall of Fire is an archive of Middle Earth inspired fiction & art. It contains the works of 58 authors. The archive was last updated in April 2004. Like many other Tolkien fanfiction archives of its era, the site required fiction to be approved before it was posted on the site; in the case of the Hall of Fire, a majority of four anonymous reviewers (similar to the much larger archive Henneth-Annun Story Archive) approved new stories, with the webmaster as the tiebreaker. As with other archives (like HASA) that used similar policies, quality was the reason given for being selective:
Fiction will be screened on the basis of grammar, spelling, and general quality. We're not trying to be dictators, we're just trying to keep the quality of the archive top notch. The easiest way to be assured of inclusion will be to get the recommendation of a currently archived author.[1]
The site is affiliated with the Mithril Awards.[2]
Description from Eowyn's Musings:
Description from Scared of Sunlight:
Although the site remained online for many years, the last fanfiction update occured in April 2004.[5] In 2013, the site went offline and was briefly replaced by a website for card playing under the same domain. In 2014, the Wayback Machine began reporting errors when attempting to crawl the domain.
