The main series follows the adventures of Soren, a young barn owl, for the first six books, but follows his nephew Nyroc, later renamed Coryn, for books seven and eight. Books nine through eleven were originally going to be a prequel spin-off[1] (these books focus on Hoole, the first king of the Ga’Hoole Tree), but reading about the legend of Ga’Hoole was tied into the main storyline. Books twelve through fifteen pick back up with Coryn. These books were released from 2003 to 2008. A film adaptation of the first three books was released in 2010, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.[2] Book sixteen is a prequel focusing on Ezylryb’s life, and it was published in 2013.
