Goodnight, Love is a slash novel by Saraid with art by KAM. This used to be a series of many (over fifty) very short scenes that were net posted first individually and then collected at 852 Prospect as a long story in November 1998, and then published as a zine in 2005.
Summary
From the publisher: "Written with deft control of plot, Saraid shows how Jim Ellison and Blair Sandburg, two vastly opposite men, become lovers. In slow but sure movements, little by little, they learn each other's bodies and how each wants to please and be pleased. This feel-good novel explores Jim and Blair's relationship as it happens, helped along each evening with Jim whispering, "Goodnight, love," into Blair's ear. Though the road is not always smooth, and things don't always go as planned, Jim and Blair arrive at a fully equal, loving partnership in the end."
Reactions and Reviews
When I first read this story it was in its full form, as you will find it in the above link. From what I understand though. It was written as a serial, each part written and released over time showing a gradual progression of the relationship between Jim and Blair after they have admitted they love one another. It is kindof like an 'Ok, we love each other, now what?' kind of story. Neither has been in a relationship with a man before and is trying to come to terms with that and figure out what they want out of the relationship. It is angsty in some spots and generally incredibly loving. I loved it the first time I read it, even cried at some points. It kept me enthralled through out the entire piece, just waiting to see them get over the rough spots and settle into it. I can only imagine what it must have been like to get sections of it over the lists over several months time. I loved it, you will too, I'm sure. Minor warning for superfluous use of sappy and cutesy names. The writing is so good you can forgive it though. [1]
Such a sweet love story. It made me smile, laugh, and cry. It is just beautiful. It is split into ten parts so don't miss one. [2]
Saraid's Goodnight, Love consists of ten parts and is thus very _long_. It's a long, slow and delicious read for those god-I-feel-down rainy days. [3]
Saraid really outdid herself with this series chronicling the progression of a relationship between Jim and Blair. Written over the course of several months, Saraid keeps the story realistic as she explores the up-and-downs of the new relationship. Absolutely brilliant. [4]
