"Good Boy" is a ficlet by trueriver based on Mary Renault's 1953 novel The Charioteer. The story is seen from the perspective of Patch, the bull terrier puppy introduced by poicale in her story, "Home". Presumably it is in the same time frame, which would place it a couple of years after the war.
Patch gives his views on his relationship with his two masters, Ralph and Laurie. Ralph is firmer with the dog; Laurie (who "has something wrong with his hind leg") is more inclined to let him on the bed.
