Reactions and Reviews

I find this story completely mesmerizing. Kelly Chambliss and Boadicea present us with an unlikely trio, certainly not the grouping to inspire the first thought of "ooooh, Sexy!" But these three unlikely lovers work, and work well. The multiple-drabble format is inspired, the writing seamless--a perfect collaboration. Reading it was an otherworldly experience. Like I was in a drug-induced fantasy that was a bit hazy but still rich in texture. Very lush, with an air of underlying sadness and desperation and resignation and detachment. I'm way impressed! And very jealous! I look forward to the next improbable story this duo comes up with! [1]

An unusual group put together unusually well. Angsty, raw, and lingering. [2]

A collection of drabbles the authors note says, written by turns, over four years. And featuring as it's romantic--threesome Janeway, Seven, and er…Neelix. Each section, each drabble shifting the point of view. You might think there is no way that could work. But then this is a story by Boadicea and Kelly--so you read on--and it works beyond your expectations. The writing is crisp, spare, and lyrical and sensuous despite that. I think it may be the choice of detail, which is unerring in creating atmosphere and creating a vivid picture. (The way they write about something as prosaic as buttons becomes poetic and sensual under their hands). I'm struck with how tactile their descriptions are. Boadicea and Kelly deftly describe the dynamic between the three. And within the story there are wonderful glimpses and insights into all their characters that make you go ah. "Going Away" is a memorable story I thoroughly enjoyed reading. [3]

I think this was a story written in response to the general feeling that it just couldn't be done. Boadicea and Kelly took Neelix and decided to make him empathetic and believable in this situation and I'm freaking impressed that they succeeded. I like the drabble format too - it was strangely effective in that it stopped and started the story, like it had to be retold several times. It also gives the opportunity to change points of view and that's also an effective tool. The last drabble is the one that really brings it home (or lets it leave rather). This is a Janeway I've become familiar with - the one that just can't stay. [4]

This is one of those fics you have to read to believe. It's amazing. of course, one wouldn't expect anything less from the team of Boadicea and Kelly, but this threesome between Neelix, Seven and Janeway - written in drabble form - is absolutely amazing. It's seductive, sultry, poignant, and the attention to detail and description - even in such a concise form of storytelling - is incredible. And more importantly, they did what some would think the impossible - make Neelix sexy. Wonderful job! [5]

This is about the most unlikely threesome anyone could have pictured, but the authors' wonderful use of language and imagery somehow makes it work. The drabble style really brings out the details, and even little things like buttons become wonderfully sensual. Love it! [6]
