Garden of Shadows is a zine for the characters Naminé, Replica Riku, and Vanitas from the Kingdom Hearts games. This character grouping is also called the "Lost Shadows Trio".
About
The project was announced on July 31, 2019[1]. Applications for contributors began on December 15, 2019, and were expented to end on January 5, 2020[2]. After an extension, applications closed on January 18, 2020[3]. Emails were sent out on January 28, 2020[4].
Preorders opened on July 31, 2020, with the following pricing tiers[5]:
- Wishing Well ($12 USD) - Digital Zine
- Key to the Garden Package ($18 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine
- Witch's Grove Package ($25 USD) - Physical Zine, Memo Pad, Sticker Sheets, Postcard, Die-Cut Sticker
- Reflection Pond Package ($35 USD) - Physical Zine, Memo Pad, Acrylic Charms, Enamel Pin, Sticker Sheets, Postcard, Die-Cut Sticker
- Secret Garden Package ($50 USD) - Physical Zine, Memo Pad, Acrylic Charms, Enamel Pin, Sticker Sheets, Postcard, Die-Cut Sticker, Pencil Pouch, Enamel Pin
The deadline for preorders was expected to be October 31, 2020, but was later extended to November 15, 2020[6]. A giveaway for a cross-stich recreation of the first Kingdom Hearts game cover by Nihazil ran from November 13 to November 20, 2020[7].
Shipping began on December 29, 2021[8]. Digital zines approximated to have been sent out days after a shipping update on January 30, 2022[9]. On November 9, 2022, the mod team posted that some amount of orders had yet to be fulfilled[10]. The project was finally closed on February 7, 2023, with a post confirming that all bundles were sent out[11].
