Forever is a gen or het Star Trek: TOS 148-page novel by Holly Trueblood. It won a 1995 Fan Q Award for Stand-Alone Zine.
Summary
Written prior to the film “Generations,” it provides an alternate ending for Kirk's life and career, which many believe to be more satisfying. With important roles for all the major characters, Forever has plenty of action, angst, humor and romance. Sometimes life offers second chances. Sometimes death is not the end. [1]
Kirk and the crew and the Enterprise have returned to Earth, ready for retirement or other assignments, only to find Earth and the Federation in chaos, and an outcry for the dismantling of Starfleet. The President wants Kirk to help hold both the Federation and Starfleet together. But a mysterious, dark-skinned woman has an even greater challenge for him. Whose 'offer' will he accept? Which path will he follow for his final years? Will James T. Kirk truly 'die alone'? [2]
