for the lulz is a dated term derived from the change of sentence for the lol.[1] Lulz is the nonstandard spelling of the plural suffix -s., a internet slang, that means Fun; amusement; humor; especially schadenfreude according to Wiktionary.[2]
This term is used to justify ridiculous, pointless and occasionally gratuitous behaviour or a personal justification for the life of an internet troll. Is also used to say they did something that was funny.[3]
It may or may not be considered a meme, as the term has become reasonably popular due to the 2006 meme called I Did It for the Lulz.[4]
