Fetish Mining is a term to describe the act of asking someone for fetish content, without them knowing the content is for a fetish or sexual purpose. Often this solicitation will be done in such a way as to seem 'innocent' so as to avoid the sexual aspect.
In fandom, this often occurs through the sudden direct messaging of artists for fanart in which a character is dressed in a certain way, or in a certain pose. For instance drawn with a large behind or belly, being stepped on, or with an emphasis on their feet etc - things that seem nonsexual, but are being asked for a sexual purpose.
