Fanworker is a term used by some big bang challenge mods and others to refer to fans who create fanworks. Traditional big bangs involved collaboration between a fanwriter and a fanartist, but over time big bangs increasingly allowed other types of fanworks, so a term to describe all participants was needed.
Challenges where this terminology is used include DC Universe Big Bang and its sister challenge Marvel Universe Big Bang, as well as The Zombie Bang.
Outside the influence of big bangs, this term does not appear to be very common in English-speaking fandom.
