Fanson is a combination of the words fan and Hanson, used to refer to fans of the band. It has been in use since at least 2000.[1]
Although the term had been used for years, it became controversial when Hanson themselves began creating merch using the term (need reference) and many fans prefer to draw a distinction between normal fans and fansons, who are seen to be less critical and more obsessive.[2]
