The Fandom Weekly Short Fic Challenge was founded in 2016 by darjeeling as a multi-fandom flashfic challenge community.

All fandoms, genres, and pairings are accepted, including gen, het and slash, but fics must include the prompt(s) provided by the mods.

The challenge is hosted on Dreamwidth, with an associated AO3 collection available for participants as well. Participants must have a Dreamwidth account.

How It Works

This is a multifandom weekly fic challenge community, where participants write a short story (1000 words or less) based on a prompt. Each challenge has two elements: a Weekly Theme which the entry must be modeled on, and a Bonus Goal which may be a phrase, or other specific aspect to include or work with. Challenges are posted on Wednesday and participants submit their entries through the week. On Monday night a voting poll is posted, and voting takes place through Tuesday and Wednesday, with winners announced Wednesday when the new challenge goes up.[1]

There are no restrictions on fandoms or genre, but RPS is not allowed. Fics must not be rated higher than R, and they must be first posted to the community for a week before being posted elsewhere.[2]
