Author's Comments
I thought this was one of my best pieces, if a bit dark. There’s a little bit of awkward phrasing and such that I could have improved upon. But I love how the reader isn’t sure whether Jim and Blair are or aren’t in a relationship, until the end.The theme of “bad parents” has always been a favorite of mine. Bringing brother Steven into it, as both victim and perpetrator, added a refreshing mix. I probably could have handled the religion thing a little better, but I liked having it there.
I love how Jim and Blair both show their intense love for each other via actions, rather than words. Most of all, I like how this ends. I think, despite the overall dark tone, it ends up feeling good.[1]
