Evelyn, also known as Evie, is a clever but clumsy librarian and Egyptologist in the Cairo Museum of Antiquities, and one of the main characters in the The Mummy of Sommers trilogy, part of the The Mummy franchise started in 1932 by Universal Pictures.

Canon

In The Mummy, the character was originally meant to be Evelyn Carnarvon[1], named in homage to Lady Evelyn Herbert, daughter of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, George Herbert[2]. George Herbert was the primary financier of the excavation of Tutankhamen's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in November 1922, your daughter was present.

Evie and her brother Jonathan were to be the children of the "cursed" Lord Carnarvon. The only evidence of this left in the film is in the line where Evelyn tells O'Connell that her father was a "very, very famous explorer".

In The Mummy Returns it is revealed that she was, in her past life, an Egyptian princess, the daughter of the Pharaoh whom Imhotep and Anck-su-namun killed. This makes her battle with Anck-su-namun personal, as they were also foes in their past lives.
