Enthusiastic consent is a sexual trope in which one or more participants in an intimate situation actively express their desire and willingness to be involved.
The trope has received a mixed reception since rising to prominence in the 2010s. Some fans have embraced it in rejection of non-con, dub-con, and other tropes they view as problematic for perpetuating outdated and harmful ideas about consent. Other fans regard it as a personal squick characteristic of amateurish or issue-centered writing.
"Consentacles" is a term used to refer to the trope in works involving tentacle sex.
