Eirin Yagokoro is a moderately-popular character in Touhou Project, and is typically portrayed by fandom as a wise, cunning sage and doctor. Her representative theme is Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon (Japanese: 千年幻想郷 ～ History of the Moon).
History
She first appeared as one of the final bosses in the game Touhou 8: Imperishable Night, being the main culprit behind the creation of the fake moon, and servant/protector of the moon princess Kaguya Houraisan.
Later official works (excluding games) would gradually expand on her personality and backstory, namely her time pre-Gensokyo.

- Her propensity for aiding people, especially with medical conditions, has often been exaggerated to the extreme, depicting Eirin as being frustruated at times.
