The Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market 2016/0280(COD), also known as the EU Copyright Directive, is an European Union directive that requires EU countries to adopt specific measures regarding copyright on the internet into national law. It was first introduced to the European Parliament on 20 June 2018. It was approved by Parliament on 26 March 2019. Articles 11 and 13 of the directive (numbered 15 and 17 in the latest version) attracted considerable controversy and criticism.
