Fandom Wars

There were wars on tumblr when some Divergent fans decided that, in order to help the Divergent films succeed, they should attack what they saw as the series's competition. The main perceived competitor was The Hunger Games. Fans left negative reviews for the Hunger Games films, and occasionally the Harry Potter films, and encouraged other fans to do so as well.

The Hunger Games fandom responded. Some Divergent fans objected, pointing out that if the fandom had a bad reputation this would further discourage people who might join the fandom.
