Distractions is a Jim/Blair story by Charlotte Frost.
Summary: "First time and then some. Blair is ready to act on his feelings; does that make Jim's senses a curse or a blessing? Takes place a few months after TSbBS."
Author's Comments
I became almost strictly a gen reader in TS fandom, because I found the slash so unsatisfying. One reason for the latter is that almost no slash stories mention Jim’s senses in relation to sex; the other is that Jim and Blair are 90’s characters, written by 90’s writers. Therefore, they often fall in bed together like it’s no big deal. I longed for my old-time slash fandoms, where homo sex (for characters who identified themselves as heterosexual) was a Big Deal, and where there was angst and a slow build-up to the first time scenario, while also keeping to one of my favorite TS themes of “How does Jim’s senses effect him sexually?” So, this was a very simple story, to the point of being blatantly harmless. I tried to beef it up with a Simon subplot, but I think the latter situation comes across as rather abrupt.[1]
