Dilithium Dope is a gen Star Trek: TOS fanzine published in 1977 in the Salt Lake City, Utah area (Kearns) by a fan club called Regulus.

On the cover: "Regulus System."

It contains short stories, games and poetry. Aside from the story, "Siege," almost all of the fiction appears to be some sort of role-play, parody filled with puns and club in-jokes and written script-style.

The zine notes that the fan club president is David Oreno, the treasurer is Marge Pagel, and that the club started in late 1975 or early 1976.

From the club's president:

Regulus is now leaping into full fandom.

For years I thought that a fan was just someone who enjoyed something. NOT SO!

To be a true fan you have to let people know you are a fan, which means writing letters to fans, stars, publishing companies, movie studios, your congressmen, etc. True fans show their talents in such areas as art, creative writing, public speaking, etc.

A fan doesn't need to be a fanatic, (although it does help) but he needs to show a love for whatever he/she is a fan of.

If you didn't get the gist of what I'm trying to say, here it is in straight term.

We need people to contribute to our 'Zine. If we are going to publish a good, big 'Zine, we need stories, jokes, art, poetry, letters, ads, anything we can put into print.

In our we want what you have (no Stuck, not that). Show us your talents, help us out. Make this a Super 'Zine.

This is only the start. From here.... The stars.

From the treasurer:

One year ago, the Kearns branch began. Our treasury had so little money, what we had was kept in a bowl. The memberships collected from our branch were disbursed as follows:

Kearns was allowed to keep only one (1) dollar from every renewal membership.

Kearns could keep three (3) dollars from every

These two conditions applied only if we published our own 'zine. Gradually new memberships came in, but our treasury was still a very small plastic bowl. In August, we opened our own saving account with the sum of $21.50.

With the new year just beginning, we now have Just over $60.00. Some of this money has come from donations, but most of it has come from new members joining the club. We have gained, officially, l4 new members in the last two months. Many of these were already coming to our meetings, but they liked the club so much that they wanted to belong to it. These members are what makes the club go! Memberships are paying for the publishing of this 'zine. They also pay for other activities that cost money, such as the movie Dark Star, membership cards, stationary, and a lot of other things that cost money.

To all who have paid, WELCOME!!! You are why the Regulus Club is growing and getting better. You are why the club will continue its growth and fame in the coming years. You will help the club live up to a well known phrase: LIVE LONG AND PROSPER! And it will!

From the editor:

This past year has brought many changes to all of us in ST/s-f fandom located here in the Salt Lake area.

We are celebrating not only the beginning of a new year, but our first year as an organized club.

It has been a year packed with excitement and adventure. (Who else would be dumb enough to try to organize a con, help run a club, and edit a club 'zine?) (Thanks Intercon Committee for showing us it can be done)!!

Yet even more than the fun, have been the friends. A year ago you were strangers; now, friends, tried, and proven true. Whore else in all this world could one go and say: "Help, I need...and get that help? Or an arm for support when you're down? To each of you, my thanks for helping make a dream (although there were times at the beginning when I was sure we had conceived a nightmare, and not a dream) a reality.
