Excerpts

If you had to do it all over again, would you and what would you change in the process? I would definitely do it all over again, but I’m glad I don’t have to! What would I change? As I said above, I think I might pace myself a little more, especially over the storyline that involves their personal lives, marriage and children. But there again. . . I think also that I would keep a clearer record of the details of my characters so that I could avoid any mistakes when I refer to previous events in their lives. It’s a bit of a nightmare if you decide to write a story going back in the timeline a little, and can’t remember essential details!
Are you swayed by other’s reactions to your work or have you set a course and stayed upon it? I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was affected by other’s reactions, but I would actually welcome a genuinely honest review, even if the reviewer felt they could only do this by private message. As I said before, I did go through a period of wondering if there was any point in continuing along the lines that I was writing, but, having thought about it at length, I now feel comfortable with the way I write and how I write the boys and their world, even if it’s not to everyone’s tastes.
How would you respond to a critic who says, “Oh, you write fan fiction. You’re not a real writer.” I’d tell them to go and read some fan fiction and then come back and we’d have a more sensible conversation. I could point them in the right direction . . .
