Excerpts
Why MFU? What is it about the show that fuelled your creativity? I am an original cousin. I loved the humor and the great repartee in the show, even as a ten year old. I harbored a story or two in my head for awhile and wrote my first MFU fan fic in the eighties, and was published in Relative Encounters, which was mimeographed and stapled together. And to tell the truth, I was afraid of “/” back then. I knew somebody would find out I was reading those purple pages.
Are you swayed by other’s reactions to your work or have you set a course and stayed upon it? I cry when people criticize my stuff, but generally I stick to my guns.
How would you respond to a critic who says, “Oh, you write fan fiction. You’re not a real writer.” Writers write because they have an idea that they want to share with others. To me the only difference is that “real writers” get paid a bunch more and have a larger audience.
