Daydreams and Fantasies 1 was published in 1990 and contains 174 pages.

The art is by Holly Riedel, Kerin Houseburg (interior, front cover), and Pete Siekierski.

In several stories, the writers themselves appear as characters in the narrative.

From, Jackie, one of the editors:

Welcome to the world of DAYDREAMS AND FANTASIES.

For years stories have been circling around in my mind, but they never came down my arm, and onto paper. When I found myself, "hooked" on Beauty and the Beast, my imagination went wild. My new friend, Susie Goldberg (She'll fill you in, on how we met...next page), and I went to a Beauty and the Beast convention. There I discovered the wonderful world of "Fanzines". I bought every one in sight! I then purchased more, through the mail. I knew then, I had to write. Now,...you can share my daydreams, and those of the other talented writers, poets and artists. A BIG kiss from Vincent, (Catherine, for the guys) to all our contributors. DAYDREAMS AND FANTASIES II, is already in the works. Send us your stories, poems and drawings. If you have an idea, but just can't seem to get it down in a story or poem; send it to us, and we'll create a story for you. We would love to hear, from all our readers. Send your submissions, orders and/or letters of comment, to either of the addresses below, and be sure to include a SASE for replies.

I wish to express a special "Thanks", to my husband [name redacted], for all those hours I spent away from him;....in Vincent's World.

And to my son [name redacted].... Thank you for the use of your computer. (Poor guy, I practically stole the computer, from beneath him.)

Again A big "THANK YOU"...to all!

One of your "Beast" friends.

Susie, one of the editors writes about meeting Jackie at a record store appearance by Ron Perlman, striking up a conversation, becoming friends, meeting at con, and then deciding to do a fanzine together:

Jackie keeps asking me, what it was and is about this particular show that "hooked" me. I keep trying to figure out a clever reason, the stories, the romance, the production itself. Sure, that's all part of it, but what it finally came down to, was a feeling of friendship, not only Jackie's and mine, but I met a whole host of new friends, Mouse, Kipper, Father, Catherine and of course Vincent. I think it's absolutely wonderful, that a television program can evoke so many emotions and make people care so much about each other. So Jackie, in answer to your question, I'm still sure, but I feel like I'm part of a huge worldwide fraternity and...it's a terrific feeling.

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1

Imaginative stories and poetry. One love story involves Father. “Homeward Bound I” by Jackie Skalski is an interesting attempt to explain Vincent's origins, and stands out. [1]

This zine contains a wide variety of story lines. In 'Vice Versa,' Catherine and Vincent find new insights into their relationship due to Narcissa's intervention. In two interlinked stories, 'Kroywen' and 'Homeward Bound,' Vincent discovers his birth world and his mother. Catherine returns in another body in 'Wings of a Soul' and its sequel, 'The Bonding.' Diana appears briefly as a friend. 'Replay' is an alternative to 3rd season and Father finds love again in 'Autumn Love.' In several stories, the writers place themselves into the action. [2]

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 2

The writers again [as they did in the first issue] include themselves in two of the stories. In one, a fan's fantasy comes true when Vincent makes love to her! [3]

Varied writing styles (and print styles) make up an interesting mix of short stories and poetry. One bizarre dream story includes fruit (???). Dot matrix printer makes for some difficult reading. [4]

This second volume of the series contains both Classic and post 3rd season stories. A young Devin and Vincent also get into mischief in one story. In 'The Homecoming,' a sequel to 'Kroywen' found in Volume I, Vincent and Catherine finally consummate their love and discover Vincent's lost, half-brother- Elliot! Diana appears in two stories. In the first, she helps Vincent find the twin brother he never knew about (no romance). In the other, Catherine's spirit appears urging Vincent to love again and Diana is here to comfort him and wait. The writers once again include themselves in a couple of stories. Readers should note in one story, a fan has her fantasy fulfilled as Vincent pays a visit and makes love to her. [5]

Issue 3

Daydreams and Fantasies 3 was published in 1991 and contains 330 pages.

It was edited by Jackie Skalski, Susie Goldberg, Rich Brinkley, and Betty Salazar.

It contains much art by Kerin Houseburg, Lana Lanham, Mary Nguyen, Sandy Tew, Maggie Wade, Jackie Skalski, Pat Wahab, and calligraphy by Connie Moler.

Volume III of the series contains 9 stories and much poetry. In 'Primal Sympathy, Parts 1 and 2,' Catherine discovers another being like Vincent while Paracelsus once again plots revenge. Gabriel also appears. There is another chapter of the 'Kroywen' series entitled, 'Twice The Happiness, Twice The Joy.' In this volume, Catherine discovers she's pregnant with twins. In 'Every Right,' Vincent misunderstands the feelings he is receiving from Catherine and is overwhelmed by jealousy. Devin appears also. Pascal is featured in 'Loves Return,' a story set after 'Twice The Happiness...,' and William in 'Beauty of the Heart.' Readers should note that one story, "'We Welcome the Child,' is set 20 years in the future after Vincent's death in a Tunnel accident, and deals with the birth of Vincent and Catherine's grandchild. Reactions and Reviews: Issue 3

Much stronger and more lively than the first two volumes, #3 is a good old-fashioned “read”- and at 330 pages, there's a lot to read. Notable among the fiction is Jackie Skalski's “Mirror Mirror on the Wall,” a reverse B&B fable in which Catherine, mistress of the castle, captures and imprisons Father, obliging Vincent to be her prisoner in Father's place. In Marcia Lefebvre's “Primal Sympathy,” another being like Vincent--Luther--is rescued from a research facility with dire consequences for the tunnels. The second part of this story involves Luther with Paracelsus. “Twice the Happiness, Twice the Joy” by Skalski continues the Kroywen serial from earlier issues, with a surprising connection between Elliot and Vincent. Her “Every Right” is an adult story of passion, sex, and mistaken identities. Reviewer found the artwork heartfelt but unpolished. [7]
