David Fantasy (also known as "David Fantasy #1," and "A Fantasy of David") was the very first X-Files RPF story posted on the internet.
It was posted to Usenet in 1994.
It is archived here.
The story did not appear to generate much comment then, nor in the raging actorfic discussions that followed during the next ten years.
"David Fantasy" features a sexual encounter between David Duchovny and an OFC named Kira. The author's summary: "An X-Phile is cast as Mulder's new partner, though she feels not too welcome." Another summary: " An X-Phile is cast as Mulder's new partner. (very short and squeaky clean)" [1]
Two years later, a different fan wrote a story and cited "David Fantasy" as her inspiration. See Playing Tourist.

Fanwork Inspirations
- Playing Tourist by Lapis Lazuli ("Disclaimer: DD, his opinions, and his wardrobe belong to DD. This story is mere conjecture, along the lines of "David Fantasy #1" by Julianne Lee. This is my first attempt at fanfic. The Rebecca character actually doesn't resemble me at all, and I have no lust for DD in real life. I actually had a dream that went something like this, so I'm experimenting with the concept.") (Oct 30, 1996)
- X-Trek by Steve Han (This is a Star Trek: DS9/X-Files story. The last paragraph: "Mulder's speech was cut short, however, as Kira Julian suddenly appeared and walked up behind Mulder, squeezing his shoulders. "I'm sorry, folks, but Mr. Mulder and I have a prior engagement," she declared. Grinning, she added, "I'm going to show him my new personal holosuite program, entitled 'Squidgey David Fantasy #1'."" (Sept 9, 1994)
- Gillian Fantasy, short satirical fics by Steve Han (November 1994)
