Twitter user sodacink started a poll on April 15, 2022, to gauge interest in a free and digital SoRiku zine. The zine project's social media account was then opened with a post on April 23, 2022, along with opening contributor applications. Applications ended on May 11, 2022. Confirmation emails were sent out on May 15, 2022.

Although the zine was originally slated for release on July 31, 2022, circumstances forced the project to push the deadline to August 5, 2022, then was delayed again another five days. The zine was released for free on itch.io on August 10, 2022.

By August 16, 2022, the project's social media account reported that the zine had been downloaded over 1100 times at the time of posting.
