Dark Knight Lair (owned by Jan J.) was a fan website designed to be a one-stop shop for all things Forever Knight—a remarkably comprehensive source of information of all types about the show and its fans. Much of this was collected by Jan from sources that were no longer readily available.
History
Dark Knight Lair was created on 16 October 1998. The main site was last updated 13 August 1999. By January 2000, the site was down but under revision—at least from the perspective of someone trying to access it through the index page, where a notice told visitors that the web site would not be up and running "for quite a while". Internal updates took place through 2001, particularly in the sections for the four factions with which Jan was affiliated.[1] Nevertheless, no revamped version of Dark Knight Lair ever officially debuted.
Dark Knight Lair hosted the main faction site for the FK Pagans, which relocated to a different web address.
Contents
The main page of the site had a picture of LaCroix flanked by two castle doors, offering the viewer a choice of either entering "the Light" (a small personal section) or entering "the Dark" (Dark Knight Lair).[2]
Resource Material
Dark Knight Lair contained a number of sections comprising resource material for Forever Knight fans. These include:
- intro material about Forever Knight
- information on fan e-mail lists for the various factions
- large FAQ section (based on material originally collected by William R. T.)
- maps of Toronto showing the filming sites[2]
- small screen capture archive[2]
- art archive[2]
- video archive[2]
- list of magazine articles about Forever Knight
Archived Fan Writing
There were also several archives of various types of fan writing, mostly material assembled by Jan J. from a variety of sources:
- the Library (a fan fiction archive): this was designed to organize a large collection of fan fiction, but in fact never held many stories. However, its contents did include:
- "Stitcher of the Knight" (a round robin created by the Cross-Stitchers of the Knight)
- "The SPAMpire Chronicles" (by William R. T.)
- filk collection (various authors)
- collection of top 10 lists (various authors)
- collection of joke material (various authors)
- collection of posted information (various authors)
Associated Websites
Linked as sections of Dark Knight Lair were four sections of material relating to the factions that Jan J. belonged to:
- the main faction site for the FK Pagans
- an info page for the Dark Knighties
- a Cross-stitchers of the Knight section, containing an info page about the faction, Forever Knight-themed cross-stitch patterns, and pictures of Jan's own cross-stitch projects
- a Nick's Harem section, containing an info page about the Nick's Harem faction and Jan's own "dates" with Nick
Fan Art
Jan designed large-scale logos for the factions to which she belonged. These adorned their respective sections of the website.
