The Dark Crystal is a 1982 fantasy/adventure/family film co-directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz.
It is set on the planet of Thra and centers around a Gelfling named Jen whose mission is to insert the title object into the Crystal of Truth before the three suns converge.
The screenplay for a scrapped sequel was eventually adapted into a 2017 comic book series, The Power of the Dark Crystal. A Netflix prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, was released in 2019.
