Sadly after many years we are announcing that these reports are coming to an end. A team of us have been writing these reports, voluntarily for a number of years in their spare time. Over the years some people have left to pursue other interests. Up until recently we have always managed to find replacements, however despite a number of requests nobody has come forward, and this has meant some people doubling up on their reports, or reproducing them from other sites.
All is not lost, however, there is the Coronation Street Blog. If you have not seen it already it is bigger and brighter than than these reports, and has much more information as well, so if you follow Corrie, I would suggest you head over there and join Flamin' Nora and her team!
Also the Corrieweeks updates continue distilling the six episodes into a single email for those who prefer delivery to their inbox - The URL with instructions to sign up to the list is on corrie.net: http://www.corrie.net/updates/ maillist.html

It is with considerable sadness that I write this report, for two reasons. One is that we have lost our friend and fellow reporter, Tvor, very recently and very unexpectedly, and the other is that we are no longer able to continue to cover all the episodes, so this is my last one. I have been doing this for over 12 years now, so it's been quite a chunk of my life. It's the end of an era.

Sadly after many years this will be the last daily episode udpate. All is not lost, however, there is the Coronation Street Blog. If you have not seen it already it is bigger and brighter than than these reports, and has much more information as well, so if you follow Corrie, I would suggest you head over there and join Flamin' Nora and her team! Also the Corrieweeks updates continue distilling the six episodes into a single email for those who prefer delivery to their inbox - The URL with instructions to sign up to the list is on corrie.net: http://www.corrie.net/updates/maillist.html Thank you all for your support in the past and for the very kind comments received since we made the closure announcement. I am honoured to have the opportunity to prepare this final update as I have been involved for around 20 years and **SPOILER** tonight a major character looks like he has left.
Update
This covers episodes 9417 & 9418. It was written by Owen Lloyd-Fox and it was directed by Tony Prescott. Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.
We are in a holiday cottage (in Whitehaven I believe) where Pat is rapidly stuffing passport and papers into a holdall which he is planning to take to the boat as he tells Eileen. She says she will come to the boat as well. She does not want him disappearing off like he does at home - they are on holiday together. Pat cannot tell her that he needs to do a runner to Ireland. She cannot get anything out of him. Pat says he needs some time on his own, he does not like feeling crowded. Eileen is confused - one minute Pat wants her to move to Ireland and now she is crowding him. Pat wants time alone. She tells him to go fishing on his own. He tells her he loves her but has no impact on Eileen.
Adam materialises at the police station to represent Gary. Nicola is on her way to see Seb. Gary briefs his brief.
At Weatherfield General Audrey is being briefed by DJ Geoff through the locked door on his imminent "what's ailing you" phone-in! Next up is a request from Pauline Urology, sorry Pauline in Urology. Anyway after some dead airtime Audrey talks about mountains and introduces pop powerhouse diva Diana Ross with "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in a rather splendid piece of improvisation! Even Geoff is impressed. Security arrive to unlock the door.
At the Rovers Fiz and Izzy are sat stony faced in a booth with children running wild in the family friendly pub. Simon looks less than happy. Tim, Steve, Kev and Ty are at the bar as the noisy kids continue to disrupt the atmosphere. Izzy has a real go at Ty as he is obviously over "cheating on his fiance and wrecking his family". Ty tells her to keep her neb out. Fiz defends Izzy - and she ought to be told the whole story says Tyrone. Ty and Fiz argue in front of the children does Kev asking them not to do so. Toyah tries to calm things down. Henry Newton reappears as the shouting continues.
Eva worried about the baby not moving is having a scan. The operator finds a heartbeat. Eva cries. All is normal.
Liz brings Johnny a drink in the Bistro. She explains that Jenny wants Johnny all to herself. Johnny feels his kids have to come first. Liz gently reminds Johnny that Jenny lost her child. Moira arrives as Liz takes a call from Eileen but the call breaks up as the signal is poor near the cottage. Eileen moves and the signal improves. Eileen recounts Pat's strange behaviour. Moira plonks herself and a glass of red wine down next to Johnny who makes his excuses and goes. Liz tells Eileen that if Pat is upsetting her she should return to the Street. Eileen reckons men need space - after all that is why they play golf. She is not giving up on Pat yet. Meanwhile, Pat has gone to the boat and is preparing to run. EIleen has followed and has decided he is not going anywhere without her. Pat tells her otherwise - he wants to be on his own as sometimes she can be annoying. She shouts back that his habit of sneaking off can be annoying. He makes it clear he is going fishing on his own. She says she is the only person who has supported him through all of the accusations. But now she can see there is nothing decent about Pat. He is not bothered. A hamper slips off her shoulder dropping onto the groun with the sound of breaking glass. Pat is about to sail away. Eileen puts her hand in the hamper and cuts it on the broken glass. She kicks the hamper into the water hurting her ankle as she kicks the ground. Pat turns the boat off and returns to the walkway to see how badly she is hurt. He suggests she drives home alone and that perhaps it is better for them to go their separate ways. She cannot drive home - the keys were in the hamper! She limps off - which Pat spots so he follows her.
Gary is explaining about the gun to the policeman as used to shoot Luke. Apparently the gun has not yet been found. The police have however found two bodies (we know they are Vinny and Andy).
In the Rovers Ty is telling Fiz there is not talking to her when she is like this. Peter asks them to keep it down - but the pub is over-run with noisy children. Fiz responds that Ty is worse than the kids - "It is not my fault, it is your fault!". Henry Newton and photographer return. Then they both spot that Ruby and Hope are both missing. No sign of them in the yard or toilets. Henry and photographer head off to find a friendly pub. Simon is looking after Ruby and Hope in the back room (watching Thunderbirds). Peter quickly tells Ty and Fiz. Si explains he has had a lot of different parents and he hates it when they argue, so he used to sneak off and watch TV. Ty thanks him and then asks Fiz what they think they are playing at?
Adam phones Tim (who is in the Rovers' bar) - he explains and says can Tim contact Eileen? Using a voice heard throughout the bar he leaves a message on Eileen's answering machine to call him back. Gary has smashed up the concrete Pat poured and a couple of bodies have been found and Pat is chief suspect. And once they know where Eileen is and they will get the police to come and get her. If she is with Pat then she needs to stay calm and get away from him as fast as she can. Tim will keep trying to contact her. The entire pub has heard this - Dev thinks he has the address and heads back to the shop. Steve will ask Liz if she knows.
Eileen has limped to a bench in sight a lighthouse and Pat has followed her. He gives her the boat keys and tells her he is going to look at her foot. She is still desperately trying to get a mobile signal. She tells him to leave it alone - but no signal. He wanders away to see if he can get a signal. She walks towards the lighthouse and suddenly gets a signal and so can hear Tim's message. It is replayed in full. Her face changes as the message sinks home and she spins around looking at Pat realising just how serious her situation has just become. As she does the sun sets and it gets much darker with lights twinkling at the end of the pier.
Eva is leaving the hospital thankful all is well and apologising for her time wasting. In the corridor she starts crying again and feeling very alone decides to phone Aidan. But before he answers she disconnects and shakes her head.
Eileen phones Tim - but as her phone connects Pat comes back. She denies that she has managed to contact anyone. Pat has however managed to order a taxi - in about an hour. She suggests he departs on his night fishing expedition. He feels he cannot leave her alone in the dark. He says it is goodbye then. Will she be waiting at the cottage when he returns or has she run out of patience? She says they just need some space! They can talk later. Pat says that once this holiday is over they can remember the happy times. Eileen nods in agreement. They walk in opposite directions but Pat is not convinced.
David and Shona are looking for Audrey - she has been reported as being in the radio studio. Martha and the Vandellas are doing "Dancing in the Street" as they approach the studio where Geoff is turning Audrey's wheelchair around. All have big smiles.
Eileen is still trying to get a signal near the end of the breakwater under the light of the rotating light house lamp. The phone seems to connect and behind here we can see Pat's bald head illuminated in the rotating light. And now we will take a 30-minute break.
Liz in the Bistro introduces her new man to Moira who describes herself as colleague, ex-roomie, BFF and inspiration. Steve comes in wanting to know where Eileen has gone. He explains why and Liz remembers something about a lighthouse.
At Dev's shop the note is missing (Pat lifted it), so no-one knows where they are. Tim's phone rings. At the other end Eileen turns and sees Pat advancing menacingly. We hear Tim asking Eileen if she got the message. Pat grabs the phone and tells Eileen to be quiet. Tim tells the listener that Pat is dangerous and has killed twice - not realising that Pat is the listener. Pat tells him it is not Eileen and Tim realises he has made it worse. As Pat throws the phone Eileen screams "North Point Lighthouse". Tim hears some of this which he tells Dev. Steve and Liz arrive and Kev phones the police. Tim and Liz head off for the outer ring road.
Shona and David have Audrey back in her bed - and cannot believe either her or Geoff were alive when such old records came out! Audrey denies the records are that old! Audrey recalls the Lyceum as does Geoff where he saw the Hollies. Apparently Geoff has family in Weatherfield and is a local lad. Maybe they will see something of each other. Audrey has pulled!
At the foot of the lighthouse Eileen demands to know what Pat has done. He goes off on one saying she has betrayed him by shouting out their location. She calls him a murderer, a liar and a rapist - he denies the last one. She asks who are the two bodies. Pat says Tim knows nothing - there are four. Pat says he is "The Darkness and the Light! I'm a Creator and a Destroyer. And the Accuser and the Prosecutor. And the Lord of Hosts! I'm the Lier-in Wait. The worst things that Eileen can imagine". She calls him insane and asks who the dead foursome are. Her Michael, serendipity, who died from a failing heart. Pat did not think he could kill so locked Andy Carver up for months in the cellar of their love nest. She came to visit and Andy was so petrified he did not call out. Then he recalls how he got Andy to finish off Vinny before Pat himself found out he could kill and despatched Andy. Finally Luke learned too much and had to die. And throughout this Eileen is piecing it all together with what she knows. Killing Luke was almost easy says Pat as he had become good at it by then. And the universe was behind him as the fascist scum (who abused Alya and Luke) almost went to jail for it. He repeats that he loves Eileen - that was not a lie. Indeed, he saved her life when Vinny wanted her and Todd bumped off. They argue. Pat re-iterates the importance of family - a proper family. Sea spray surges around them. But Eileen convinced Nicola to keep the baby and that was important to him. He advances on Eileen and she backs away - he gives her some advice - the railings behind her are riddled with rust and will not take any weight. She takes the keys from her pocket and dangles them over the railing saying she will throw them into the sea if he comes closer. And she reckons that the police will be on their way and Pat needs to pay for his sins. He demands the keys.
At the police station Seb is recounting the story of the gun having his fingerprints and they had no idea there were any bodies in the concrete. The interview is interrupted and another officer confirms that the project manager has confirmed that Pat poured the concrete on his own. And Pat Phelan's mobile is in the other pillar.
Back at the lighthouse Eileen is refusing to hand over the keys. Pat says he will kill her for the keys. She believes he can kill her. He says he will not kill her if she hands the keys over. She says Pat has destroyed her life, Todd's life, he is a murdered and a rapist - he again refuses the latter designation. But she says she now believes Anna. Anna was not mad like Pat made her seem. He asks for the keys again. Eileen tells him that he twists everything and made her his accomplice. He rushes her and make a grab for the keys, not surprisingly the rotten railings give way and Pat plunges downwards, with Eileen looking over to the depths below. Cue a commercial break.
Eileen is panting heavily until she hears Pat's voice - he has grabbed a rope hanging over the edge of the quay and he is asking her to get help as he climbs back up. "Help me Eileen" he shouts. He says he is going to fall. A hand comes over the edge of the wall. Then she sees his face. And the police sirens can be heard in the distance. He tells her she has won - but she says no-one has won. He tells her he does not want to die. She grabs the remaining railings. He then tells her he knows where Todd is; he is trouble and can put them back in contact if Eileen helps him or Todd will die. Eileen repeatedly says "Liar!" and using her good foot stamps hard on his knuckles until he lets go and he falls backward into the sea at the foot of the lighthouse. (And apparently a stunt mad did take the fall). The wind howls around Eileen.
Fiz has sent Leanne a message. Fiz and Ty are going to make a go of it and it will not happen again - sorry, Leanne reads out to Peter and Toyah. Peter thanks Simon for looking after the girls earlier and Leanne relents letting him off of his "grounding". Simon assures Peter and Leanne that he is not hanging around with that bad lot any longer. On his way out Carla introduces him as the new intern to Aidan who now has a problem of explaining why Simon gets different treatment to Summer. Carla points out Summer is two years younger (I am surprised she knows). Meanwhile, Carla has had a good meeting with Dave Sim. Aidan is more worried about a missed call from Eva. He still looks worried even when he decides not to call her back. Eva turns up for work over four hours late and sets her to clearing glasses. Eva tells Aidan she phoned him by accident. Carla observes that it is called the "butt dial" in America. Aidan makes light of it.
The police approach Mrs Phelan carefully. She tells them he has gone. The police look around - but can find nothing. When Tim arrives Eileen is sat in the back of an ambulance and Liz hugs her. Eileen says he went into the water and the coastguards are looking for a body. Eileen tells them they were right after all. Eileen tells them she watched Pat go in and she made sure he did not get out. She hopes he rots in hell.
Sally is cutting bread and tells her unseen visitor that Tim is looking for Eileen. After all his son has a big heart - and the unseen visitor is revealed to be DJ Geoff who agrees that Tim has a big heart. Faye appears seeking confirmation of the stories. She of course has been living with her Granddad. Geoff meanwhile wants to know about the wallpaper ...
News from the brewery is that Henry has decided to concentrate on country pubs. Carla observes that kids are all right - but not when there is wine! In a quiet moment Toyah quizzes Eva who explains earlier events. She assures Toyah all is well - but cannot resist a sneaky glance towards the innocent Aidan. Peter is looking for his lighter - but no-one seems to know where it is. Peter observes that Si did a good thing today with the kids and Leanne agrees. They both hope that the good Simon is back to stay.
Outside a load of kids throw a rock at car windscreen and then do a runner, Simon is one of them.
At the cottage Eileen, Liz and Tim have a brew. They are staying with Eileen; at the moment the latter does not think she can return to the Street as she cannot face them all. Liz points out that Eileen is a victim in all of this. She says no-one will believe she knew nothing of events. Liz says they will all believe her - Pat was evil and lied to Eileen. But Eileen says she has been with Pat for two years sleeping with him whilst he murdered four times. She tells Liz about Luke and Pat watching Michael die. She also tells Liz that Pat saved her from Vinny. Eileen does believe that Pat loved and Liz says that none of that means Eileen is to blame. Eileen says she ignored all the signs. Pat regularly disappearing, the horrible comments he made to people; but she had loved him back. And she thought Pat would leave her and she would be on her own. And she also accused Anna of lying about the rape. Liz promises Eileen that she will not be on her own - Liz will be with her. She and Tim will not let Pat ruin Eileen's life. Eileen says she is not a good woman and that it was her fault - she has not told the police the whole story. And then realising she might have said too much she does not tell Liz and Tim what she actually did. Liz assures her it is all over now.
Roll credits.
On Corrie.net there are updates going back to 1995 and it looks like I joined the team in 1999. Not continuous from them on and indeed I can see gaps when we simply did not have a complete team.
I am honoured to write this final update and to also commemorate what appears to be the end of the Phelan era. Although there are rumours that he lives on.
