Control is a Fraser/RayK story by Kass.

Reactions and Reviews

I first came to DS on the trail of some of my very favorite TS authors, and for reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, I've remained, attached...

Yeah. You know the schpiel.

Anyway, Kass is the author of one of my very favorite TS stories which is Running Away. (And look! It's Two recs in one!) (Lord - I'm going to be kicked off of crack van, I know it.) After I'd pretty much exhausted my interest in TS, I started poking around the DS stories of some of my favorite authors.

The first story I read by Kass was Control.

Control is a story, told from first-person Fraser pov, and spans the relationship of Fraser and RayK from the very beginning of their partnership, through and just a little past Mountie on the Bounty.

By telling a story from Fraser's pov, we get to know so many things about Fraser as a person, and we get the added bonus of seeing RayK through Fraser's eyes. I love stories that are written this way, because again, by the time RayK shows up, we kind of have a feel for Fraser as a person, so his confusion with RayK and who this new person is, sort of mirrors our own.

Control goes deep into Fraser's ideas and beliefs. It shows how he feels about Ray, but also, why it is that he refuses to do anything, or act on any of those feelings.

God - just...

Wow. Amazing writing, amazing feel of Fraser and what goes on in Fraser's head. And ultimately, when Fraser does let some of that control slip...well, the end result is all he, and us as readers could possibly hope for.

Control is a wonderful and real DS story, as are all of Kass's stories. Plus, there's the added bonus that Kass is one of the nicest, classiest women around. Take some time today and reread Control, then spend some time rereading the rest of her page. It'll be a very wise investment of your time. [1]
