Contraband was a proposed book by Marion Zimmer Bradley that was never completed.
There has been much debate regarding how much of "Contraband" had been completed when Marion Zimmer Bradley said she would be unable to publish it due to legal troubles regarding fanfiction. Some people believe, due to Marion Zimmer Bradley's failing health and reliance on ghostwriters, that it may have been nothing but an outline.
In any case, "Contraband" has traditionally been the sledgehammer used as the reason that fanfiction is dangerous and illegal.
