Coming of Age is a genre which explores the transition from adolescence to adulthood. In fandom, this is a very common trope, at times partially defined by young romance, throughout high school and into college. Romance is not necessary, of course. Works can be about issues such as morality, evading the expectations of society or one's parents, managing peer pressure, dealing with bullying, and pin-pointing life goals.
