Many people who aren't engaged in transformative works express their fannish love for movies, tv shows, books, and celebrities by collecting memorabilia.
People collect memorabilia for both sentimental and financial reasons: "Auctions of memorabilia from such franchises as Star Trek and the James Bond films often net millions of dollars in revenue from auction houses such as Christies and Sotheby's."[1]
Collecting memorabilia sometimes overlaps with the more-transformative end of fandom:
- costume items are sometimes used in cosplay
- original scripts are sometimes used for performance of cut scenes or meta about variations from the recorded version
- Clippings can be used to expand information on fan sites
