Context and Development
The author, unfried-mouth-wheat, was an active participant in Daily Dracula discussion on Tumblr. When a post proposing Jonathan Harker would do well as a character in Frankenstein, he contributed with a short fic about Jonathan meeting Frankenstein's monster on his way to Dracula's castle, and a second snippet about Dracula booking passage on Robert Walton's ship and immediately getting recognized as non-human by Victor Frankentsein.[1] The post went viral and attracted numerous contributions from others. [2] Encouraged by the response, unfried-mouth-wheat expanded his ideas into longer fic.

Remember those posts all “Jonathan ‘this man is strange but I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt as long as humanly possible’ Harker should befriend the creature from Frankenstein”? This fic is that and more and it’s INCREDIBLY CUTE AND HEARTWARMING. I haven’t even read Frankenstein (yet) and it delights me. Love that Jonathan is the sort of person to go, “wow his hands were cold like a corpse…I should buy him gloves and a hat!!”[4]
Fic rec for the Dracula Daily folks out there! Some lovely person is writing the Dracula/Frankenstein* crossover that we all needed, featuring Jonathan the Oblivious yet Generally Well-Meaning Dumbass meeting and befriending the Creature (whose name is not Frankenstein, for those who may be unfamiliar. That’s the name of the doctor who made him.)[*No, it is not shipping Count Dracula with Dr. Vincent Frankenstein. As far as I know.]

Anyone who doesn’t want spoilers for content later on in Dracula and/or all of Frankenstein may want to tread carefully since I’m not sure how quickly it’ll move through plot events, but I can verify that the first chapter should be fine for everyone.

It is beautiful - well written, the characters are treated with love by the author even as terrible things happen to them. I want to take this fic and put it in my mouth and eat it so it can be close to my heart forever.[6]
