Chevrefoil is a fanfiction written by Vadianna. The story was written following the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Told from the POV of Hux, this story provides a BenArmie backstory for the character, and features AU hopping through multiple AU scenarios (including some that would be familiar to Kylux fans), before arriving at the events featured in the movie.
- Hux wakes up, panicked and alone, after a mission he can't remember. The wrongness continues as he realizes the mission doesn't exist, the Finalizer is in the wrong sector of space, the training program is years behind schedule, the Hosnian System is whole and functioning, and no one has heard of Kylo Ren.
- Hux's ironclad confidence is compromised, and he decides the only remedy is to go out and find Ben Solo and recruit him to the First Order all over again. And again. And again.
Notes: The events of The Last Jedi will come eventually, but for now, this opens with a year of completely uneventful administrative work after The Force Awakens.

Chevrefoil is one of the truly great epic canonverse Kylux works. Think of it as an extended “Torture Hux” tumbling through years-long nightmares until finally, FINALLY he can appreciate Kylo Ren. But the thing that really makes this story memorable is the fantastic worldbuilding, multiple iterations, very different convincing canonverse AUs as Hux tries and tries again to reach his Ren. Vadianna’s imagination is, apparently, boundless.[1]
Hux lives different scenarios in which he met Ben Solo and convinced him to join the First Order, which is the crux of the Order’s success and Hux and Kylo’s relationship. Stunningly written and engrossing.[2]
