Charles Hornig was a member of First Fandom who entered science fiction fandom in 1930. He edited an early zine called The Fantasy Fan, which he sent to Hugo Gernsback, and was recruited off its strength to serve as editor of Wonder Stories at the age of 17.
Hornig was a prominent supporter of the Esperanto movement in fandom. The Science Fiction League was based on a suggestion he made to Gernsback.
