Buttons is a background character in the Newsies stage musical.
Canon
According to his Paper Mill Playhouse trading card, Buttons's legal name is Benjamin Davenport.[1] His Broadway actor, Chaz Wolcott, provided a separate backstory in which his name was John Eisenberg.[2]
