Buttercup is a character in The Princess Bride.
Short Canon Overview
Buttercup's true love is Westley, a farmboy on her family's farm. In the book, she is described as the most beautiful woman in the world. When Westley is presumed dead, Buttercup is engaged to Prince Humperdinck. Much of the story focuses on Buttercup's kidnapping at the hands of Vizzini, and Westley's daring rescue of her.
