Jake "Buddy" Saunders is a fanartist and zine contributor, editor and publisher who was active in comics fandom in the 1960s and 1970s. He also ran a comic mail order service beginning in 1961, and in 1977 founded Lone Star Comics, a comic book chain which at one point had seven stores. He is now the owner of mycomicshop.com, an online comic store specialising in old comics and fanzines.

Saunders was a charter member of the Science Fiction and Comics Association and one of seven individuals who were on the subscription list for the first issue of the club's newsletter, Rocket's Blast. He was an active participant on the newsletter, submitting art, fanfiction and articles. as well as a frequent commenter in the letters section. When the zine was merged with The Comicollector in 1964, his art continued to be featured. Along with Larry Herndon and Howard Keltner (and known as the "Texas Trio"), Buddy co-published Star Studded Comics in 1963 until 1972.

Saunders has also written (and co-written) a number of science fiction stories, with "Back to the Stone Age" nominated for a Nebula Award for Best Short Story in 1976. He has also appeared in the 2023 comics documentary, Dallas Marvels, about the promotional Marvel Comics that were given away in the 1980s by the Dallas times Herald.

More recently he has been known to espouse various right-wing beliefs, sharing false information on his blog about COVID and the 2020 election[1].
