The BritSlash mailing list was the first UK based mailing list devoted to slash fandom. It was created in 1998 and was still active as of 2009.

From the mailing list intro: "A discussion, information and fiction list for *Slash Fiction* based on British television programmes/films etc past and present, and foreign programmes shown in the UK (Please be aware that Slash Fiction is the fan writing of predominantly *male/male* stories. If you object to this please do not join). You must be at least 18 to subscribe to this list. Email [email protected] giving your name and an age statement. Everyone who joins this list will be presumed to have read and understood the list description and have adhered to the list age policy."
