Breaking News is an ongoing image-based Internet meme in the format of a screenshot purporting to show a television news segment.
According to Know Your Meme, the idea for this meme has been around since 2010, but spread starting in 2012.[1] However, on Tumblr, the breaking news meme tag only goes back as far as February 2015.[2]
