Reactions and Reviews
Now this was a big saga that I enjoyed. I was immediately sucked into this AU about a frontier in Kansas back in the days of cowboys and ruffians and all. There's never any actual slash in this story or anything to ever hint that it would actually happen but it darn near gets close! It's the best kind of friendship possible, the kind I thrive on reading about. They NEED each other, they will DIE for each other (and nearly do again and again in this story - omg!). There is hurt/comfort out the WAZOO in this story, some of it rather graphic. The author does not shy away from the obvious racial and ethnic tensions that might occur from Simon and Joel being Black ranchers, Blair being the only Jew, and there being plenty of issues with nearby Native American populations in the area. In general this is a recommended story for its plot, plot, plot and deep friendship and good writing.[1]
