Big Gay Energy is a media and fandom podcast hosted by Theora, Kaitlynn, and Bree. Originally a Motherland: Fort Salem fan podcast, it previously went under the name Big Witch Energy until 2022. Most of the episodes pre-November 2022 are focused on Motherland: Fort Salem, while the later episodes explore other LGBTQ+ media and fandoms. On 31 October 2023, the official description read:
Welcome to Big Gay Energy, an LGBTQ+ media podcast! Come along with us as we dive into the fun and nuances of queer media. Representation matters and we’re here to talk about it!
Big Gay Energy features Bree, Kaitlynn, and Theora. They found their way to each other thanks to a little show called Motherland: Fort Salem and quickly realized that they work really well together.
Hydrate for Lesbian Jesus and gay it up all over the place!
The podcast was particularly notable — and popular — amongst the Motherland: Fort Salem fandom because of numerous interviews with cast and crew from the show.
They would also have cast and crew from other shows appear to discuss the shows and their fandoms, including A League of Their Own and Warrior Nun. While many episodes focus on media with canonically sapphic characters or large femslash fandoms, others do explore other queer media, fandoms, and representation.
