In 2012, the press ceased operating and revamped its website, leaving the K/S Fanzine Database and the History of K/S online, along with summaries and contributor's info about one of their zines.

Submission Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Jenna and D'Anne welcome authors and artists who are interested in submitting material to any of our zines. For our anthology zines, we're looking for

Short Stories, Novellas, Poetry, and Art. We're also interested in publishing good Kirk/Spock Novels

1. What are D'Anne and Jenna looking for?

The material must be K/S.

The material must not have been published before.

The material must not have been posted on the internet before.

That's it! Other than those few requirements, the door is wide open. Wildly explicit or modestly discreet. First time or established relationship. Mystery novel, adventure story, or PWP (Plot? What plot?)

There are as many varieties of K/S as there are writers. You get to choose. Write or draw to your heart's content, and then we'd be honored to look at your work.

2. Suppose I've never written anything before?

(Or: I'm shy! Or: I've only ever written for the 'net. Or: I've got this great idea for a story, but I'm not sure how it should end.)

Everybody has to start somewhere!

We are accustomed to working with both new and experienced authors, and we will treat you and your artistic creation kindly and with respect. Our goal is to help authors present their visions in the best possible way.

3. How do I send D'Anne and Jenna my work?

Fiction and Poetry: For fiction and poetry, the easiest way to send your manuscript is by attachment through email. Send to kszines@aol.com.

If you prefer not to send by email, send a disk with printed-out hardcopy to:

[address redacted]

We prefer MS Word, but we can work with other programs, too.

Artwork: We accept freehand drawings as well as some photo-manipulated art. The photo manips must be obviously transformative in nature: that is, not just a head stuck on a body. It's best if the artwork isn't too light or too dark; we're looking for work that will reproduce well.

For art, the best way to submit a piece to one of our zines is by scanning your artwork and sending the JPEG file to us through email. Send to kszines@aol.com.

If we accept your work of art for publication, we'll ask you to mail us the original for reproduction. The original will be returned to you after printing. Sometimes we can take the piece to a convention for you and put it in an art show for sale.

If you prefer not to send your submission by email, send a copy of your artwork to:

[address redacted]

4. What happens if my submission is accepted?

Editing: Every writer, no matter how experienced and excellent, benefits from working with editors. Jenna and D'Anne are attentive editors who will work with you to make your story or poem the best it can be.

Fiction: For every story four pages and longer that is accepted and printed, the author receives one free copy of the zine. If the story has multiple authors, the discount is applied proportionally. For example, a ten page story written by two people will earn a 50% discount for each author. If a story is only three pages long and is written by one person, the story earns a 75% discount. If a story is two pages long and is written by two people, the authors will each receive a 25% discount.

Poetry: For every four pages of poetry accepted and printed, the author receives one free copy of the zine. (Some poems will be printed on one page, others will flow over to two pages.) Two pages of poetry earn a 50% discount, three pages a 75% discount.

Artwork: For one or more pages of artwork accepted and printed, the artist receives one free copy of the zine.

5. What happens after my work is printed?

We ask that works of fiction, poetry, or art not be reprinted or posted on the net for three years from the date the zine in which the piece appears is published. [1]
