Because I Have You is a zine for the relationship Cloud Strife/Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy VII.

Because I Have You is the first volume of what is intended to be a collection of zines dedicated to the relationship between Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII. Just as these two souls are bound by an unyielding devotion and love, this zine highlights the best of their fated encounters: no matter how many times they are separated, they will always find each other. A testament to reunion and a reminder that the stars will always lead home... because I have you[1]

Interest checks opened on July 12 and ended on July 31, 2020[2]. The zine would be the first volume of potentially more zine projects. In the project's report on the interest check results, 272 responses were submitted, and a majority voted for the zine to be split-profit (half charity, half for-profit), among other decisions[3].

Contributors could apply to the project from August 5 to September 2, 2020[4]. In the meantime, the project encouraged followers to subscribe to Stargazer Heaven Gazette, the teams' newspaper, for updates during the creation period and later preorder and shipping processes.

Preorders opened on January 10 and closed on February 10, 2021 with the following pricing tiers[5]:

  • Sealed Up Secret Wish ($15 USD) - Digital Zine
  • Tender Memories ($25 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Stretch Goals
  • Seventh Heaven ($30 USD) - Prints, Badges, Stickers, Washi Tape, Acrylic Charms
  • Under the Stars ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Badges, Stickers, Prints, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Stretch Goals
  • A Tower, A Promise ($50 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Stickers, Prints, Washi Tape, Badges, Acylic Charms - Tier 1 and Tier 2 Stretch Goals
  • The Stargazer ($65 USD) - Physical Zine, NSFW Digital Zine, Acrylic Charms, Badges, Stickers, Washi Tape, Prints, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Stretch Goals, Canvas Pouches

Buyers could add an "Under the Highwind" pacakge, which contained digital NSFW materials, for $15 USD[6]. Stretch goals included a foil bookmark for select bundles at 75 orders, an enamel pin for select bundles at 120 orders, and an additional sticker sheet for all physical bundles at 180 orders[7]. An acrylic standee, as voted in an earlier poll, was announced as a fourth stretch goal for all physical orders on February 8, 2021[8].

"The Stargazer" bundle included a "Let's Mosey" canvas pouch and was limited to only 100 orders[9]. An additional 25 copies of this buundle were added to the store later[10]. A giveaway for one of these bundles was run from January 10 to February 10, 2022[11]. The winner was announced to be Twitter user ToriCarlini[12]. Another giveaway was run during the project's shipping period[13].

Shipping of physical orders began on May 12, 2021[14]. All physical orders were shipped by June 3, 2021[15]. Digital bundles were sent out on the same day[16].

Leftover sales began on June 25, 2021, and lasted until supplies ran out[17]. The store closed on August 13, 2021[18]. The project announced that $2,101.23 USD was donated to Friends Without a Border[19].

Everyday I saw the amount of work put for this project from all artists, writers, merch artists, and the time spent on it by the general mods was inspiring.
