Back from the Well is a slash slavefic 161-page Stargate: Atlantis novel by Xanthe. It is a threesome fic with Carson Beckett/John Sheppard/Rodney McKay as pairing. It also contains rape. It was first published online in December 2005 and later reprinted as a zine edition. It won a Stargate Fan Award in the h/c category in 2006.

Atlantis has been raided and her people are trapped on a primitive world where technology is forbidden and they are forced to work as slaves. For some, this experience is worse than for others, but they all face their own journey in coming to terms with what has happened to them.

The Karkarans invaded Atlantis in the middle of the night, pulling man and woman alike from their beds and forcing them through the Stargate to Karkara, a feudal planet where the slave trade is alive and well. Torn from his lovers' arms and sold at auction, Rodney knows he'll never see John or Carson again. Enduring backbreaking labor and being brutally used as a sexual toy, he's sold from master to master, praying that it all just end. Then he's put on the auction block one more time, and is bought by a rich Karkaran who looks very familiar. Can Rodney discover a way to heal when he's back with his lovers once more? Is there any way to find and rescue the other Lanteans who were sold off, and may have yet survived their cruel fates? Can life ever be the same again?

I really loved how you told everything in Rodney’s perspective and how you portrayed Carson and John in his eyes. Makes it seem a bit more real. It reminds me a bit of a story I once read about three guys, two of which were definitely in love with each other and the other who loved them and was part of their triad, but who was more something like a plaything than a true partner. It was really sad and I’m very sorry that the author never finished it. Glad this one has a happy ending though ;)

Really liked this again, especially the earlier parts. Rodney’s experiences very moving. Thought however this story had a lot of potential to be longer . Moved too quickly to a conclusion considering the traumas all had experienced. [2]
Loved this. Well, hated reading the traumatic bits bkz … traumatic. But loved how you worked through the emotional issues and brought them back to each other. I am not in this fandom, and never watched the show, so I tend to read these fics as original fic. I don’t know if Atlantis sensing emotions and “liking” people is canon or your own invention, but I loved the way that was used to reach John in his anger and self-destruction. Very cool. [3]
